Updated Driver For Amd Radeon Hd 5770 M Mac

Updated Driver For Amd Radeon Hd 5770 M Mac Rating: 6,1/10 2486 reviews

I have a 2008 Mac Pro, running OSX 10.8.5. Just installed AMD Radeon 5770 graphics card (Apple says this isn't supported; users I read said it works despite what Apple says in knowledge article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3477). When I restarted, the system said my card was a Radeon HD 5000, not 5770. AMD's web site not clear about driver upgrade (and I believe I have to do this, since I took out the old graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 2600 that came with the Mac Pro at purchase). Didn't get a clear answer, yet, from Apple support. Anyone experience this? Does anyone know which driver to manually download from AMD's site? It's not clear, and they also suggested, talk to Apple to get driver support. Here's where I went, and found the choice not clearly mapped out for the Mac (and their autodetect software works only for XP:
-and here: http://www.official-drivers.com/installer/?seed=ati&gclid=CJeA0M_1u7wCFVhufgod4Q MAcQ.
Thanks.

And were running 10.6.4 with all current Apple (AAPL) updates installed. The 5870 and 5770 are fully compatible with 2008 Mac Pros using. Will this Radeon 4870 work in the updated Mac Pro firmware? ATI Radeon 5770 works just fine on 2006 Mac Pro with both DVI and MiniDisplay connections.

RE: Mac Pro silver tower (2006-2012) Replacement Graphics cards
1) Apple brand cards,
2) 'sold in the Apple store' cards, and
3) 'Mac Edition' cards ..
.. show all the screens, including Boot up screens, Safe Mode, Installer, Recovery, debug screens, and Alt/Option boot screens. At this writing, these choices include:
1) Apple brand cards:
• Apple-firmware 5770, about US$250** works near full speed in every model Mac Pro, Drivers in 10.6.5. (This card has just been discontinued and is no longer available from Apple dealers. There may be some new, old stock still available at resellers)
• Apple-firmware 5870, about US$450
2) 'sold in the Apple store' cards
• NVIDIA Quadro 4000 Fermi, about US$1200
• NVIDIA Quadro K5000 Kepler, about US$2500
3) 'Mac Edition' cards -- REQUIRE 10.8.3 or later:
• SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 MAC Edition, about US$480** Vendor recommends Mac Pro 4,1
• EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, about US$600
The cards above require no more than the provided two 6-pin aux power connectors provided in the Mac Pro through 2012 model. Aux cables may not be provided for third-party cards, but are readily available.
If you are Meet ALL of these:
• running 10.8.3 or later AND
• don't care about 'no boot screens' etc AND
• can re-wire or otherwise 'work out' the power cabling, THEN:
You can use many more cards, even most 'PC-only cards'.
One more thing--
Flashed PC cards: There are a good many EFI flashed cards that offer boot screens and behave like official cards. 'for more information about using and flashing non-Apple cards, please check out the various sites like Netkas (and others) that focus on and discuss what is known and available. (Not supported or endorsed by Apple.)'

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R5 Graphics

You can manually install the drivers from AMD's website here:http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/r5#
Or you can install AMD's Catalyst Software which will scan your system and automatically install and update drivers here:

  • Appreciate any help on this that anyone can give. I'm at a loss at the moment. Just got an AMD Radeon 8490 graphics card to put into the HP Pavilion p7-1110 desktop. I have not opened up the back of a computer for probably ten years (used to do it, but haven't for a long time). The card I got was new, but pulled from a workstation before going out, and came with no disk or documentation.
I tried just opening up the back, and putting the card in the PCI-16 slot, but when I restarted the computer, the computer did not recognize either the old integrated graphic card or the new one. When I pulled the card back out, it recognized the old integrated card.
From what I've been reading, there's a suggestion that I uninstall the Intel Integrated graphics driver before trying the install again, then plugging in the new card, turning the power back on and letting Windows 7 choose the drivers necessary for the new card, then it might work.
But what if it doesn't. Then I don't have the drivers for the old and it's gotten me nervous that I'll be without any graphics at all and unable to use the computer.
Any suggestions? Don't know why this has me this nervous, but I guess it's that lag time between dealing with a motherboard.
    Appreciate any assistance, guys.
    Nervous in PA.

    Hi,
    I see two possibilities.
The AMD 8490 is not compatible with your PC.
The 250 watt power supply in your PC is insufficient.
Try clearing the CMOS and see if that helps. If not, then try the BIOS update that is posted for your PC.

  • I have upgraded my recently bought B320 all-in-one to Windows 8 and now have a problem with video card drivers for HD7450 graphics card. Default Win 8's driver (named something like Windows Radeon HD7400 series ) works just fine, but it have no OpenGL support and therefor I can not run some games like Minecraft. Catalyst drivers available from AMD website can not detect the video card (probably because it have lenovo-specific oem ids?), and on lenovo downloads only 32bit drivers are available for AMD cards.
Was anyone able to get catalyst drivers working on B320 with 64bit Windows 8?
May be there is a compatible lenovo desktop or all-in-one which already have those drivers? And will Lenovo release 64bit video drivers for B320 anytime soon?

Till a better idea comes along:
Don't know if you have tried this but first thing I'd do is go to control panel/system/device manager, find the devices, right click and ask for it to update the drivers. If there are new ones around they should be found.
The only drivers Lenovo offers for the b320 are 32 for some reason and they may not be the best. I had a dead card reader, downloaded their drivers, and it did no good, asked the machine to update the driver, it did and it worked. I don't know where it found the driver but it was not lenovos download page.
Hopefully they will get some updated stuff soon. The tv software is poor at best.

  • Hello -
After I connect a projector with HDMI, the projector starts having broken up/disrorted images at start up. I brought my machine to the genius bar once and the tech used a few combo keys and it cleared the video memory and was like new again.
Does anyone have the key combo?
Better yet, is there a permanant fix?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi BenOr,
That would be a PRAM reset, and resetting it, along with other troubleshooting steps, can be found here:

  • I have an early 2008 Mac Pro, 8 gb ram with a Dell 27” display and a 42” LG TV. I am thinking about upgrading the stock ATI Radeon 2600 graphics card for better resolution, preferring 2 dvi outputs or 1 dvi and 1 vga vs 1 dvi and a mini. I don't do a lot of Final Cut Pro, gaming, etc. I am interested in best value for the graphics card.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best graphics card for these larger displays for the best value?
    Thanks,

I recommend you install nothing older than the Apple-firware 5770, about US$250.

  • Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, I upgraded to Adobe CC and Photoshop CC disabled some filters and 3D functionality. The preference panel for Performance/Graphics Card in Photoshop CC is greyed out and inaccessible and shows this message -
'Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry.'
I still have Photoshop CS6 installed and it still works perfectly. Anyone else with this issue? Is there a driver update for this compatable with my setup?

  • I just installed Windows 8 Enterprise Trial version on HP nx9420 laptop (2GHz dual core prosessor, 4gb memory, ATI Motility Radeon X1600 graphics card with 256mb own memory, 1680x1050 native display resolution) on second partition, side by side with existing
    Windows 7.
Installation succeeded perfect, except Windows 8 couldn't install, nor did find from Windows Update display driver for ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card. Only Microsoft generic display driver was installed and it offered maximum 1450x800 resolution,
so not laptops native 1680x1050 screen resolution.
Windows 7 can install working ATI driver right from Windows Update for that graphics card (version 8.561.0.0 dated 1.12.2008).
Laptop manufacturer HP has latest, old driver for Vista (version 8.453.0.0 dated 22.1.2008), so I installed that, selecting compatibility mode Vista with setup-program in Windows 8. That installed, but seems to have some problems, telling of missing library,
maybe with some ATI extra diplay manager software and C++ 2005 library, that it installed.
MY QUESTION: Is there some problems with Windows 8 and that ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card? Why isn't the Windows 7 -version of ATI mobility radeon X1600 display driver available in Windows Update for Windows 8 too?

Thank you all of your thanks.
I can confirm that this solution works with Windows 10 Technology/Insider preview too. And surely works with forthcoming Windows RTM too.
Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 TP work both like a charm with nearly 10 years old HP Compaq nx9420 laptop, with Intel Core 2 Duo and ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 display adapter. Nice co-operation of 'old' hardware and very Modern Windows OS.
    So in brief:
If you have laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 or other X1000-series display adapter and
you want to install Windows 8, 8.1 or 10, do this:
    0) First just install Windows 8.x/10. It will install Microsoft Generic display driver, but that doesn't support full resolution of ATI Mobility Radeon X1000 -series - for example it may show maximum 1400x1050 -resolution, thus your laptop display and Radeon
X1000 may support native 1650x1050, but you can't obtain that resolution with that Microsoft generic driver. So you need ATI-driver and you can get it this way:
    1) With Internet Explorer (this doesn't work with other browsers) go to
    Microsoft Update -catalog: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/
    2) Search 'ATI Mobility Radeon X1600'
    (or X1300, X1800 etc)
    3) Sort search results by date (last update -column), latest on top. You will see drivers for Windows 7
    - they will work with Windows 8.x and 10 too. There is certainly two of them; other is 32 bit only and other is 64 bit dirver.
    4) Select proper driver version of them, according your Windows 32 or 64 bit, so click Add
    5) At top-right click Show basket and then download those driver packages to your computer. They are cab-file
    -packages.
    6) Obtain 7-zip -utility, install it and with it unpack that cab-driver package on folder with its package-name.
    7) On start of taskbar, right mouse button click Windows-Start and then select Hardware management. On
Hardware management -window open Display adapter -section, then mouse right click Microsoft adapter and select Update driver. Then on next window, select search driver from computer.
    8) Browse on folder, where you unpacked ATI driver (on stage 6 earlier) and select Next .. that updates
driver, on the go and you don't need even to reboot Windows.
    9) Now you have proper ATI Mobility Radeon -driver in use. It surely sets automatically resolution
according your laptop screen (so recommended native resolution of screen panel) or you can select that on diplay settings.
Extra: For that Windows 8.x/10 boot works fine too, do this too:
Seems that Windows 8.x (and Windows 10 too), with their hybrid-shutdown -functionality, require some support of the display adapter, that ATI Radeon Mobility x1000 -series don't have.
So the solution is to disable that Windows 8.x (or Windows 10) hybrid boot -functionality (that is quicker boot) and to use 'normal boot'.
You can fix that this way:
    - at end of Taskbar click battery/power icon and select Power settings
    - navigate to power and sleep settings
    - either at bottom of those settings, or in Win10 more power settings, select power buttons functionality/settings (so what power button, sleep button or closing laptop screen does)
    - at bottom of those settings is shutdown options (or with similar name). uncheck 'use quick boot' -settings (for to uncheck that you may need to click first upper 'changing disabled settings' (or similar name) at top or windows)
(I recommend to check Hibernate at the same time too, because that is usefull)
    - then Save settings and reboot Windows and you have got rid of that problem that Windows 8.x/10 don't show Lock screen, now it does.
Boot takes just a little longer, so practically no problem. And if you need quicker boot with laptop, use Hibernate-state, so don't shut down your laptop, but instead put it into Hibernate-state (that is better than Sleep mode, because Hibernate-mode doesn't
    consume battery-power, like Sleep-mode does)

  • I have a HP Pavilion g6 Notebook LW350UA#ABA 64 bit operating system Windows 7. HP Assistant is offering me a update for AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver. It goes through the check list with green checkmarks next to them all the way down to the download completion. Then it goes through the installation but stops with a black X beside that. I close out the HP Assistant and it shows on the Task Bar with a Red Exclamation Point still offering me the same update. I would appreciate any help in how to get this update installed.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
It doesn't look like there are any recent AMD updates for your notebook, so this may be a configuration error with HP Support Assistant.
    Try the following.
First of all, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page.
    http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html
After the installation, restart the notebook again.
Check if HPSA still offers the AMD update.

  • I'm running two XP SP3 on a reasonably current desktop with 4 GB and an ASUS Radeon 4350 graphics card with 512MB. The card drives two Samsung SyncMaster 2443 monitors, one from analog RGB port, the other from a DVI port. I've been using Firefox since v.3, but sometime around v.8 or v.9, it began to have problems when ever I had a Firefox window open on the analog video port. (I'm current with v.27.0.1)
The window 'appeared' to freeze - clicks, scrolling and the like failed to produce a re-drawing of the window's content. However, if I dragged the window over to the other monitor running off the DVI port, the Firefox window would re-draw itself with the new content. This behaviour told me two things. On the analog port the Firefox window was still alive, and responding to keyboard and mouse inputs, but not displaying the results. Secondly, the problem was related to the Firefox - RGB interface. Oh! I forgot to mention: Firefox was the only application exhibiting this behaviour.
A support session with ASUS produced no solution. After searching several related Mozilla support issues, on a problem closely related to mine someone suggested turning off the hardware accelerator, and re-starting Firefox (Tools > Options > Advanced > General > 'Use hardware acceleration when available'), which I did. Poof! Problem solved, case closed. Except, Why?
Is this just because of my hardware setup? Or Firefox - I generally have 6 to 10 windows open at a time, some with several dozen tabs (I'm a software architect, so tend to keep a lot of context on the desktop). I'm glad I can scroll Firefox now on my other monitor, and click buttons and be able to read the response, but I think there's a defect here somewhere..

I think it has something to do with the acceleration compatibility of many type of graphics cards.
'Unfortunately, due to the wide range of possible driver, video card and operating system combinations, hardware acceleration or 3D web graphics (WebGL) may still not work for you in Firefox. In these instances you fix the problems by disabling hardware acceleration and WebGL. '

i have a Enermax ERV1250EGT power supply. the card is in the top blue pcie slot. i have connected the PCI-E 2.0 6+2 (8)Pin connectors (see http://www.enermax.co.uk/revolution85 - connectors tab, sorry no direct link but they are the red ones to be seen in the the bottom left corner of the picture: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviewimages/enermax_revolution_1250w/thumbs/10.jpg, i.e. 6 pin + 2 pin = 8 pin).

You cannot upgrade the Graphics card on a laptop because everything is built into the logic board. Unfortunately your perticular graphics chip is actually built into the CPU, and is a very low performing chip which would definately make gaming hard.
    Sorry for the bad news.

These are the specifications of the main test machines. For the record, we test our games on Medium settings (to give older models a chance) and 1280×800 resolution. These are all the results of our tests in Frames per Second (FPS):And for reference, this is how we interpret the results: Below 20 FPSUnplayableLaggy gameplay, full of stutters and slowdowns.20-30 FPSBorderlineCan be Ok in slow paced games. • I recently purchased an Hp h8-1360t computer with a 2gb DDR3 AMD Radeon 7570 video card and an Hp 2711 LED monitor. I am having problems connecting both the monitor (dvi) and a 50' Sony LCD TV (hdmi) with a 50' hdmi cable. When starting the computer, once the initial Win 7 boot up is finished, the monitor screen goes blank, except for the mouse pointer. When I turn on the tv and select the correct input source a normal Win 7 screen with icons appears on the tv. Only the wallpaper picture displays on the monitor and no icons. If play a dvd movie it will only show up on the tv with the sound coming from the speakers attached to the computer.
I would like to retain control of the computer using the monitor. I tried to set the monitor up as the primary display source using the monitor configuration menu, but it won't allow me to save the dvi connection as the primary display source. The documentation that came with the computer and what I was able to find on the Hp site is lacking..to say the least.
Any assistance with this problem will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tony

First I would disconnect the TV HDMI cable from the computer. That should return the PC screen to normal. May have to reboot to get normal. Then reconnect the TV HDMI and go into the screen setup routine, paying attention to which screen is supposed to display what information.

  • I have a Satellite C55D-B5310 with the AMD Radeon R5 Graphics adapter running Windows 8.1
The driver version is 13.352.1004.1008, which I believe is the latest.
The finest resolution (which is recommended by Toshiba) is 1366x768.
I would prefer to use a smaller resolution: 1440x900 (or smaller) since I work on spreadsheets which contain many columns and the web pages I visit often now require that I scroll more frequently.
Is there a way to obtain a screen resolution so that I can display smaller objects on my laptop screen?

Is there a way to obtain a screen resolution so that I can display smaller objects on my laptop screen?
No. The native resolution is a property of the flat-panel display.
Your AMD Radeon R5 should be able to supply a higher resolution to an external monitor attached via the RGB or HDMI port.

  • I'm trying to run Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 on my laptop, but whenever I import video it locks up my computer to the point where a restart is necessary. This problem was present when I was running CS5 so I upgraded hoping this would fix the problem but

Apple does not support that card. And unmodified Mojave will not install when that is the only card present.

There is a hobbyist hack that will allow it to install using that card, and it works OK, but there are a few graphics anomalies. You would probably not be able to edit videos, but you can play internet videos fine.

It appears that the firmware update for High Sierra is mostly to get APSF boot support, and a rumored additional firmware update for Mojave did not happen to me, so I assume if you do one or the other you are done with firmware updates.
