When I first started trying to download Custom Contents and Mods, I was extremely confused. So I decided to create this thread on how to install it! I know there are many different tutorials on how to do this, except I wanted to create an extremely simplified tutorial.
You Will Need
~Mod the Sims Framework: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files
~WinZip: http://www.winzip.com/downwz.htm?sc_cid=go_us_b_search_goositelinks or any program to open up .zip, package, or .rar files. I use WinRar now because WinZip started being a butt and asked me to pay..but WinRar is just as easy to maneuver but a 'little' different! I might make a different tutorial with just WinRar!
~Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS
~Custom Content or Mods you want to download
Step 1
Download the Framework from modthesims ((link above))
Step 2
Download WinZip or another program.
Step 3
Right click on the Mods Folder in WinZip. ((Like in the photo below))
Step 4
After you right click on Mods, click on 'extract' and then click on 'unzip'.
Step 5
Then move the new folder labeled 'Mods' and move it under the 'Electronic Arts' folder located under 'Documents'
Step 6
When you open the Mods folder you will see three items: Overrides, Packages, and Resource. cfg
Step 7
If you click on the 'Packages' folder you should see two things: NoBuildSparkles.package, and nointro.package
Step 8
Time to test to see if you installed it correctly! If you installed it correctly then when you go to play the sims then it should skip over the EA intro and go straight to the loading screen. If it doesn't, then sorry but you must've installed it wrong.

If you installed it right, then you are on your way to downloading my friend! I personally recommend downloading sims3packs first before downloading .zip and .rar and packages. To download a sims3pack, usually it will just say 'sims3pack' and you download it just like if you were to download a sim from the exchange!

Now, to download other things is pretty much the same, but I'll show how to download a package/rar/zip file anyway!

I sometimes download things from mediafire, so here's an example of that:

Click on the link, and for me it pops up at the bottom of my screen in the left hand corner.

Once I click on the link, WinZip pops up again and I right click and then click on extract.

After extracting click on 'unzip'

After unziping it should pop up under documents.

Move the package under Electronic Arts, under your 'Mods' folder. Then move it under packages so it looks like this.
